Happy Blogiversary! Unfettered Equality Turns One Year Old Today
Today marks the one-year anniversary of Unfettered Equality, a milestone we are both proud to share with you and grateful to you for making possible. Since our first post, we’ve covered everything from Ferguson to Syria, pop culture to political events, philosophy, policy, and everything in between. We couldn’t be more excited to see where the next year will take us!
When we first decided to start this blog, we wanted to advance a simple editorial mission — encapsulated in our tagline, “A Space for Discussion.” Too much of what passes as discussion in our politics, media and social platforms is a one-sided conversation intended for fellow travelers. We write to convince and galvanize rather than to challenge or learn from one another. We’ve completely accepted the partisanship that our politics has become rather than challenging the powerful to do more than assure us of the rightness of our views and the wrongness of those who disagree. For this blog, libertarianism and progressivism are not just “isms” to defend but worldviews and ideals to bring into alignment. We (still) think that critique of power and institutions, rather than partisan infighting, can lead to a better system than the one we have now.
Though this is a space for discussion, no discussion would be possible without the input and support of our readers, or the tireless efforts of our contributors. Since our first post over 47,300 unique visitors have viewed our blog 56,050 times. Our 743 followers come from countries around the world, including the United States, Great Britain, Germany and Brazil. We are humbled by the people who take the time to consider to our thoughts and opinions, and we hope our content continues to meet the standards they have set for us.
On behalf of the Unfettered Equality team, thank you. Bring on year two!
